The Five Students of Lyons

Last night with my senior catechism class we read this piece by Garnet Peet, “The Five Students of Lyons.” The story is not only worth reading because of what God did with these five young men, but also for what God did through the author.  Through his seminary years, Peet struggled with cancer.  A few months after giving this speech, the Lord called him home at the age of 26.  He was the minister-elect of the Ottawa Canadian Reformed Church.  Keeping all that in mind does make “The Five Students of Lyons” all the more poignant.  I think it’s one of the most moving pieces ever published by Clarion.
