Wedding Dress — Derek Webb

Tomorrow morning I’m preaching on one of the most controversial topics in the Christian faith:  divorce and remarriage.  I didn’t choose to really, but since I’m preaching serially through the entire book of Mark, Mark 10:1-12 has led me to this.  As I was working on the sermon this week, I couldn’t help but think back to this Derek Webb song.  It was controversial when it first came out — some Christian radio stations refused to play it.  It was too hot to handle, I suppose.  Have a listen and let me know what you think.

Dougie MacLean — Caledonia

If Scotland were in the World Cup, we’d be hearing a lot more of this song.

Highway of Heroes

This video honours the men and women of the Canadian Forces who bravely serve our country.  In our church we regularly pray for them, especially for those serving in Afghanistan.  May God bless their mission and bring them safely home to their family and friends.

But They Can’t Learn/Like Genevan Tunes! Really?

Andrew Myers has an interesting story from early American history involving the Genevan tunes and native peoples.  The tunes of Psalms 128 and 130 were especially favoured.

Andrew Bird — Lull

One of my parishioners recently introduced me to the music of Andrew Bird.  It’s growing on me.  I’d say he’s rather like Sufjan Stevens meets Joanna Newsom meets Great Lake Swimmers…well, you get the idea.  Enjoy.
